Lumen·TV 1.0.1043: the TV app answers the remote sooner

The television app answers the remote sooner as you move around it, from the tabs to Live TV and back from the player. Live TV’s column of groups follows the group you stop on, and the Back that leaves Search no longer closes the app.

What changed.

  • Less waiting at each press

On a television, the app answers the remote sooner as you move between the tabs, along Home, into the page of a film or a series, through All films, All series and Live TV, and back from the player. It does less for each press: it prepares the tabs either side of the one on screen only once the remote rests, decodes the large picture at the top of the screen smaller, and paints less for each frame on Home, on the page of a film or a series and in All films and All series. The trailers stay.

  • Home’s header follows the card you stop on

On Home, the header at the top describes the card the remote rests on, rather than every card it passes, and its picture stays until the next one is ready instead of leaving the background bare for a moment. While you move along the rows, the slow drift of the picture at the top pauses, and it goes on from where it stopped.

  • A film’s page, and the way back

The page of a film or a series no longer holds up the remote while More like this is worked out, and a page you open again finds it ready. Back from that page, Search, Settings or the guide finds the tab you came from still drawn, instead of drawing it again from the start. And after you watch something, a tab you open straight away shows its section, where it used to show an empty page while every section was built again.

  • All films and All series: the group you stop on

In All films and All series, the column of groups opens the group the remote rests on, so a key held down no longer opens every group it passes. The first group, and one you press OK on, open at once, and Right goes to the first title of the group you stopped on, never into the titles of the one before.

  • Live TV: the group you stop on, from the top

In Live TV, the column of groups works the same way: the list follows the group the remote rests on, OK and Right act at once, and a group you choose opens at its first channel instead of partway down. Live TV also keeps its list between visits: coming back to it, or from full screen, no longer shows “This playlist has no live channels.” for a moment, and the panel beside the list no longer shows the programme of the channel the remote has just left.

  • A channel number or Blue, outside the group shown

In Live TV’s list, typing the number of a channel that is not in the group shown, or pressing Blue for the last channel when it is in another group, now opens All channels on that channel. Before, the list changed to All channels but the remote stayed on another row.

  • Back out of Search no longer closes the app

The Back that leaves Search sometimes closed Lumen·TV, or, from another tab, went on to Home. It now leaves Search and nothing else. The same fix applies to the fields where a playlist is typed, on the setup screen and in Settings → Playlists. Search also drops a search as soon as the next letter replaces it, and no longer holds up the screen while it looks through a long list.

  • On phones and tablets too

The app for phones and tablets has three of these changes: a tab you open straight after watching something shows its section, Search drops a search as soon as the next letter replaces it, and Search and More like this, under a film or a series, are worked out without holding up the screen. The other changes are the television app’s.

The apps it concerns.
